This is NZ Native Fuchsia, which was discovered in NZ in 1834 by an Englishman, & may have been taken back into Europe later. It has a trailing habit & can cover areas of up to 20feet. I have also seen this plant in a tall pot, cascading down the sides & it is kept trimmed so that it just sits on the ground around the pot.

I've just had my first seed of this germinate.

Wow .... I never thought of growing it from seed. Would love to be kept posted on how it is getting on, so going to save you as a Favourite. I saw this in the native plant section of one of the GC we went to today, but haven't got a place for it yet. Are you going to use it as groundcover or pop it into a pot for it to trail over? I think it looks great in a tall container.

Palmerston in the South Island, or Palmerston North (North Island)? I live just a 40 minutes drive from Palmerston North. Small world!
