This was one of the four large maples in my yard, about two weeks ago. It is now completely bare. This is usually the first tree to start changing colour in the fall.

I love all the fall colours, but most leaves are down now, the hostas are wilted, the yard is looking pretty bleak and it gets dark at 5pm already. It's coming.....brrrr!.....

Snow today, Gz! The deer did my trimming for me...we are in the second week of hunting season and I can't wait for all the urban cowboys to just go home...Can't walk in the bush without wearing dayglow gear. Hope the doe and fawn that have frequented my garden (and eaten down my hostas and mallow) are ok...Put up "NO HUNTING" and NO TRESSPASSING signs...

Not much else you can do, sadly. "Good" hunters would never come on to property so close to a dwelling and the other sort shoot at anything, anywhere - including each other. I used to dread hunting season when I lived up North - my father had made me his mini-me before I was wise enough to stand up for myself, and my strategy was to seperate in the woods so I could 'not see' the game I was actually shooing away, lol! Some of our fellow hunters were terrible - I wore my red jacket and was still terrified of coming across them in the woods. I don't know how a lot of them ever passed the gun safety test, let alone survived the hunting trips...

trees are all bare, here as well, Gz. nice to see the colours unfold...the only trees with a few leaves still attached are the oaks and the tamaracks are bright yellow...
