Katarina, that looks suspiciously like Japanese Knotweed. Please, someone out there tell me I'm wrong!

Hello Gattina, I checked wikipedia and according to photos and other characteristics I think you are absolutely right. Here it is really considered a very invasive species growing on waste places. This one grew along the road on a pile of waste. I just liked the leaves. I am surprised how useful plant it is in fact..

Japanese Knotweed, spreads fast, grows through concrete and can cause destruction to buildings. In the UK The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 Listed under Schedule 9, Section 14 'it is an offence to plant or otherwise cause the species to grow in the wild'. If I found it growing like you did I would report it Katrina - so it could be dealt with by the right people.

hi drc 726, thanks for info, but we do not report such things. However, i found plenty of healing properties in this plant, that attracts me more. But you can be sure i will not plant it in my garden.

Hi Hywel, as I said, it is not in my garden, it is very far from human buildings, on a pile of waste.
