Amy in theory yes it is open to the elements. But if we get winters like the last two all the pots need to be up to there rims in a sand bed to prevent the roots in the pots from freezing.which a lot did last year causing quite a few losses, lots of plants are safer in the ground because it does not cool down as quickly as the pots do.

what is this , is it a lilies?
10 Jan, 2012
Junna. No they are not Lilies they belong to the Primula family which is no help as they don't look or behave like them. They grow wild across North Africa, Europe and the Mediterranean, they are corms with small resting buds on the top which when the season is right produce leaves and flowers ,each corm is dormant several months of the year.there are about 25/30 different species plus hybrids.Hope that is understandable.

I do not know what range high /low of tempetures you have in the Philippines, but think it is probably to hot for most of the species,Alexandramc has them growing wild in Corfu.
