Known locally as a 'winter robin'. Small flocks stay for the winter instead of heading south, as there are sufficient berries and fruits on shrubs and ornamental trees. The 2011-12 winter has been incredibly mild (so far), and we are already seeing birds like Cedar Waxwings and Northern Flickers returning. I photographed this one in Liverpool, Nova Scotia on February 4, 2012. It had been feeding with several other robins on a crabapple tree.
