Bed by the conservatory planted up with spring bedding in the autumn, but will look to plant up with a permanent background plants and add seasonal planting to supplement.

We haven't had damp problems and the edging is from when it was first laid out in the 1920s but I will double check the soil level vs damp course.

In all those years the soil level would have risen? Because each year the bed is added to with compost and plants etc? But its easy to check where the damp course is though.

That is a lovely bed but judging by the door sill level your soil is above your damp proof course which could give you indoor damp problems all the way along this bed?
