For anyone who (like me) didn't know what it looks like...
Comments on this photo
One metre from our buildings, D...the elderly neighbour used to pull it out (it's coming from beyond his garden), so I never saw it before... :(

Thanks Karen,as I have never seen it before either..I hope you can get rid of it ..Is it similar to Bindweed,in its growth ?

You have to stop him mowing them Karen..They grow not just from the roots. but all the cuttings can spread.

I know, P...I put a letter in his box today - carefully worded and explicit! (I've already looked at that website- and so many more...I had to find French ones which would illuminate him!)
Oh, Bloomer - I'm looking at the bindweed as a minor irritation now...check out that web site P's put up - and be on guard!

..We had lots of bindweed here, but managed to get rid of it,luckily..but this sounds horrendous..I will take a look at that website, thanks ..
27 Apr, 2012
Oh, Bloomer - there are lots more...even worse!!
27 Apr, 2012
I hope you can get rid of it. It's very invasive

I have to get him (the neighbour) to sort it, Hywel - he's got the massive mother plant...I've just(???) got the shoots...
...I'm sure that I've seen Sci-Fi movies like this? :/

WoW,Karen that website is scary.. can you get 'Round up' in France,or a similar product? if you can spray the foliage on your area..it should help,at least...that's what I used on the Bindweed, and I know it isn't anywhere near as bad as Knotweed, but worth a try ?
27 Apr, 2012
We do have Round up here, Bloomer...and I will use it!!
...whilst also talking to the Maire and the Conseil Générale and everyone else in the council(s)...!
I'm 50/50 that, knowing how bad it is, he might really sort it.

Definatley gonna need a bigger bottle for that!!!

I'm thinking....TENT, Annie!!
Anyone got any spare gas-masks???
27 Apr, 2012
Shame I still haven't got mine Karen ! Lol you could have borrowed it with pleasure....:o)
27 Apr, 2012
ooh never seen that before !!!
27 Apr, 2012
sorry to see you have that Karen....
27 Apr, 2012
no get this out!! it goes through everything even concrete - I believe it has to be burnt

The trouble is...that it is really pretty, Pixi. And, shockingly, he probably bought it in a garden centre!!!
Hi SL...just about the worst thing you can find near you...
It's still about a metre from our land, Paul
...unfortunately, legally, I can't go digging on someone else's land...although, I'm definitely thinking about a stealth raid...
...and, I'll have to tell all the other neighbours...and go to the Mayor on Tuesday...

JAysus!
28 Apr, 2012
Have you got enough scare pictures to show them Karen? Maybe a community effort to erradicate them.
28 Apr, 2012
Ha! Apparently they were on sale until relatively recently here!!!!
That's what I'm going to do, P...and immediate temporary intervention until I find a way to get it sorted.
...in court if necessary...You're not allowed to plant trees within a metre of your boundary in case it damages neighbouring property - so, I'm pinning my hopes on this being a similar situation.
It's hard to explain, but there are at least four houses in danger...but we and the elderly man next door (who only comes from Bordeaux occasionally) are in its immediate path
28 Apr, 2012
You'll have to report it Karen - it may destroy all your foundations the lot , evil stuff
28 Apr, 2012
We haven't got foundations, Paul - the houses 'float' as it were...probably makes it even worse though...the walls are just stone held together with mud and, it's just earth under the wooden floors...
...one giant JK climbing frame! :(

I looked on lione and The Environment Agency 'Code of Knotweed Practice' might help you Karen.
28 Apr, 2012
Sorry you have hope you can get rid of it.

Kiss as many of those frogs as you can hun x
28 Apr, 2012
Denise, Clarice...I think the day is saved (well, not quite yet)...I may have to keep pulling out shoots...
But, the French Rebublique allows every citizen to be!!!
...and, a BIG part of that is..., 'TELL ON YOUR NEIGHBOUR'!
...j'accuse!! :)
Oh, Annie...how many of these slimy things do I have to kiss? It's not nice...it really isn't... ;)
28 Apr, 2012
Just get on with it till you strike lucky!!! x (a not so slimy one from me)
28 Apr, 2012
Lol! thanks Annie x
29 Apr, 2012
Hang on in there Karen! :))
30 Apr, 2012
I've just found out that he (the neighbour) doesn't want it either, yay!!
Got Camille on the case...it won't be easy but at least it'll be a collaborative effort :)
30 Apr, 2012
:o((( hope you get shot of it karen
30 Apr, 2012
That is good news Karen.....Do you best to help him out...stop mowing..Each little bit is potentially like a leaf cutting, rearing to grow roots and spread.
30 Apr, 2012
Collaborative effort, thank goodness, San. We've got a fighting chance :)
It'll be Camille and I working on it now, Pim...and I'm his boss as well ;)
30 Apr, 2012
Hi Karen, I've got it too :( I will inbox you the name of the product I've been provided, I'm trying the syringe method, but severing the stem and tipping the poison in x good luck, my problem the size of a postage stamp in comparison to yours... X
24 Jun, 2012
Oh, good luck with that Magna. I think that you will win...although, it will take time. I've done lots of research (as you might imagine!!!) and it appears that the very best time to really go for it, is when it's flowering. I'd be really grateful if you did send the name of the product. My elderly neighbour and I are fighting the off-shoots until the other neighbour (the plantation owner) gets the professionals in! xx

Thats awful I hope its not anywhere near you?
