I wonder, SL, if bee is masculine gender in English? IN my language, it is "she". Slaves took bee as a symbol of a Big Mother. Seems you are more prone to Big Brother, lol.

...by the way, uhm, those workers are always "bee-women" :)

Thanks Paul :-)

i've no idea Kat, i just assume that the drone worker was male... but your probably right :-) i will bow in your wisdom he is now a she ;-)

My wisdom is too far from bow, I bow in your beautiful photo. I know something about bees as my godfather kept them for decades. Women-bees, which we call "workers" pick up flower pollens, make honey and feed the Bee Queen. Men-bees are knocking around and fertilise the Bee Queen. We call them differentlu, unfortunately I do not know the English expression for them. In Slovak language the same term is used for those, who do not work, who do nothing, who are just living from work of others. That´s what I know about bees. As English is not my native language, I just wondered if it has different gender then in my language.

i would love to keep bees but my youngest is a bit scared of them so we couldn't do it, but they really are fascinating insects...

I hope, Alexandra, that you kissed him :)) He is doing wonderful job. My brother and me, when we were children, we used to sit at our godfather, when he was cutting honeycomb off frames and we often got pieces of honeycomb, packed with golden honey. We got them in a glass, we were picking it, sitting and chewing as chewing gums. That was sooo delicious :)))

Years ago I lived in a street of 4 in a block flats with shared back gardens. My next-door neighbour kept 2 hives in that garden (except in winter, when he stuck them up in the hills somewhere). The bees were never a bother...and the honey was delicious!!! :)))

Thanks Katarina and SL.....hubby all better today. My little boy likes chewing on the fresh honeycomb.

Amy tell him to go for it....it's so much fun and nothing beats fresh honey.

Alexandra, kids know what is best for human body. Just adults transform it to their additives, lol. Did you hear about Campodimielle in Italy. Read it. It is interesting, yet forgotten story.
