Cordyline australis

This is all that remains of a twenty-foot specimen of a New Zealand Cabbage Tree after two hard Winters when the temperature dropped to -17.5 Celsius on at least one occasion. It has survived by hiding underground and growing again in following Springs. Bitter experience of these exotic not-always-totally-hardy species suggested to me that this would happen sooner or later.
