White Tree Poeny in 1st yr

Hi Kath! I love these...just planted two...one white, like you and one maroon. Can't wait to see the flowers! :)

Karen this white one is in its 1st yr growing in my garden and is growing so fast .

Compared to my yellow one I bought 6yrs ago its slow growing and is in bud mode again be the 2nd time to bloom ,last yr it bloomed for 1st after 5yrs growth then snapped in galefore winds.

There seem to be two types on sale here, Kath...Chinese or Japanese. I chose Japanese - only because they were bigger plants...I didn't do any research. Might one sort be slower growing than the other?

The yellow one Karen I bought out of a Hospital walled garden 6yrs ago they were selling them for £5 but unknown no name all I knew it was yellow.

And a garden buddie friend posted me a pink bare root one last week she got it free with plants she had bought and did not want it.

It arrived poorly from the supplier as it had been sent to me and was never opened.

When I too it out of package it had been around for some time and look as if was starting to rot on closer inspection it was like old moss in centre of plant .

I duly took this out gave a lot of TLC as it was also bone dry and new leaves were white searching for light.

I have not got it planted in ground and its now being soaked with rain .

Lets see how it progresses.

Well, if your new little one comes on from there it'll probably turn out to be a strong plant. Fingers crossed for you.
