early days.....do you think things are too close together? I want it to look tightly packed - all my neighbours that garden have neat little rows of contrasting colours and bowling green lawns, or big shrub beds....I want cottage garden type feel.....

It is rather narrow, and I have got e wry thing on top of each other! Going to start drawing out some new outlines tonight, thanks again! I have kinda just popped plants in higgledy piggledy. Lots more to do and learn!

Sometimes packing everything in works ok as long as you feed them all, especially with annuals and biannuals not so well with permanent planting.

Your typical cottage garden has nothing in straight lines, think muddle bed, keep taller plants to back and shorter to front. When you first plant it needs to look a bit sparse in order to give the plants room to grow. The border also looks to be very narrow.
