Cranes at the Lilac

Here the pair pokes around through the lilac bed. Not much food to be found by now, so they mostly just preen and step about. Beautiful to have a month of their spring this year, spent just with me.

Thank you. And wild as the wind. I thought they would be nesting but they've gone without any fledglings so it didn't happen here. They do their mating dance just there, opening up their wings and jumping as high as they can, then bobbing their heads on that long neck. I did catch some videos, but they are mostly just some walking and fumbling. (very clumsy) It has been majestic!
