Lapageria growing in mountains in Chile, it is quite hardy but I am growing it as a house plant on my window. This plant of white blooms is very rare in nature even in Chile. The plant easy to grow.

did you use stratification? and it likes to be in really humid environment, so I placed it in to transparent plastic container between two cotton puds and sprayed with Ph 6.1 water. They need acidity or they just die. Did you have red one? Later on I want to try red variety of Lapageria.

Stratified to germinate.
It was about a year old in ericacious compost, but it just withered away. It may have been to warm in the house for the short winter daylight hours?
It was the red one - the white seeds did not germinate. I'm told the seeds need to be fresh.

It is correct, seeds need to be as fresh as possible for this spices. But all the effort to grow it is very rewording. The plant in magnificent. But do not forget acidity. Mine were sitting till I low acidity level and in 3 day the process started. I am growing white one from seeds but I am not a professional in germination. But the good news is you can buy it in UK from the store but not in Canada.
