My neighbour used to have Kiftsgate and eventually got rid of it because we both had to chop it so often and it only looked nice when it had its big burst of flowers. Never seen anything grow so fast! Honeysuckle also grows fast but its so much easier to prune - just hack it back any time of the year after flowering. We have a climbing rose on the pergola just off to the left of this picture (see my today's 'rose' blog) and I think that sort of rose is much easier to manage. Ramblers take a lot of effort.
