New clematis

A trio of new plants designed to climb the fence at the back of the garden and mingle with the honeysuckle and summer jasmine already there. In the front is a row of cotton lavender, which got severely cut back this winter, leaving room for some bedding. The cotton lavender will refill the space by the end of summer, but it gets very untidy if left for more than two years. So there is a compromise because trimming can mean less of the yellow flowers in July/August. Cotton lavender foliage is very attractive and lasts all winter - so important to keep the garden bright during the dark days. It will be interesting to see if the geraniums can outpace them.
