Monkey musk

Monkey musk (Mimulus guttatus (Common Large Monkey Flower))

Funny i just noticed i haven't put this one in yet, had it about 3 years one of those mistake buys, it went rampant in the bog garden, after all that hard cold winter it still grows... resilient little bugger... but nice...

Cheers mate, it's a spreader that's the only prob, but it does perform well :-)

I agree with Paul, it is nice little flower, and I think it grows wildly also in my garden. I am just curious about the origin of that strange name ....:)

I like these SL. I used to put them in pots...and replaced them every year...didn't realise they were perennials! Oops! lol!

I think that when you look at some pictures of them, they look like little monkey's faces? :)

I used to grow M.cardinalis and that was borderline hardy. It did however self seed readily, germinate early and reliably and grow like crazy!

That's the scarlet one isn't it, this one this year hasn't been too bad, but it is contained in the bog garden area..
