How delightful! Very Beatrix Potter, bringing to mind the Tailor of Gloucester. Where did the picture behind the little mouse come from? Does it depict the crocosmia in the foreground? Would love a close-up.

That is a piece from the 'Tailor of Gloucester' one of the Beatrix Potter sets which i have around the garden,I did bits on them back in the Winter.
Katarina they are Mice sewing under the floor boards.lol
And there i was thinking you would like the flowers.

The cover i think you refer to slides in front of the sewing machine to protect it and was not painted to start off,it now has some leave and an imaginary hole with two eyes peeping through.the painting inside I based on an original B.P. sketch
