Hi greenthumb. Thanks for your comment. I believe that you have some mighty trees in Alaska as well.
We got several grand trees around but they are not in the view.
Happy gardening.

I will never forget being blown away by the size of the leaves on the Maples! huge! Beautiful BC.

They are amazing trees these big leaf maples. They grow very very fast. We cannot keep up cutting them down. We cut down several this spring and needed a chainsaw for cutting the off springs (from the stump) That is how strong they grew in only few months ....could not use pruners. Instead of one tree we would have 5.
They also send zillions of seeds around every year.
But, we also have few of them to keep as specimens and they are huge.

Your area is classed as a temperate rainforest, isn't it? The kind of rain that you can work outdoors all day and not get wet! lol...my hubby is from North Van, and he often talks about "Vancouver rain"...the kind of rain we don't get here!

Oooo, I love that stuff. Alaska drew me in with that kind of rain. I'm a little north of the 'rainforest' rain now, but we've had it blowing north over the mountains lately. Mornings are like waking inside a cloud. I just love it, how lucky.

And what a view! Wonderful. The little bird bath really sets perspective for how massive this tree is!
