Hello Lori, We are far west on the island. The rose of Sharon is very late to push the leaves out every year but it is in full bloom right now. And it is not deer resistant and the bottom is always nibbled on. That is why my picture is of the "top only" part of the plant.

Wonderful climate on the island...especially beside the ocean...farthest I've been is Sidney, Nanaimo and down to Sooke, and that was 43 years ago... OMG!

That's long time ago, Lori. Maybe there is a need for another visit (?) We have been living here since 2003...so we are newcomers. But winters are too wet for us here (cloudy) so we usually go south for a few months (for sun).

Mine is still in bud...hope we get a few more warm days, but our nights are down into the single digits now. Hibiscus is marginal in this part of Ontario...so fingers crossed. The plant seems to survive the winters ok, it just takes a very long time to blossom. are you inland?
