Bhut Jolokia is a pepper that you look at but do not touch, measuring over 1 million Scoville Units compared to a Jalapeno at 5-6 thousand. This landrace chile originates from the northeast of India, particularly Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. It belongs to Capsicum chinense family and is known by many names in the different Indian provinces.
