Evening with Poppy

In Alaska, there is not night or evening through midsummer, so in August the shadow of actual darkness first touches our world. My bright glowing day poppies became deeper and brighter, almost more fragile. What a giver, this little thing!

Thank you. I'm glad of the color choice I made for these. And yes, no darkness. I'm about 200 miles south of the arctic circle here in Fairbanks so the sun sets for about 4 hours but there is no darkness until twilight like in this pic. I have to readjust every year to the dark. Winter of course there is only four hours light in midday, the rest is dark, Summer becomes just a dream during those days. Alaska is so large much gets day and night year round, just longer than normal as it stretches south into British Columbia.

Yes, must be quite a shock going back to dark nights!
Whenever I hear of Fairbanks, it reminds me of the 70's album by Randy Edelman 'Fairwell Fairbanks'...a great record which I still have!

Thank you Sticki. This is my favorite look they give, the evening red! I just made a screen saver for my phone of it! :-)
That would be the beginning of the rush, the pipeline construction. Black gold....lol.

Great idea to put that for a screen saver! It would make a lovely picture on the wall too.

Hello! I 'm doing well. I hope you are also. I do remember and I'm so glad I spelled your name right! I was sure enough to guess on the last comment I made....lol! I hope you get to grow many things this year. Your roses and dahlia's I remember are stunning! I added these poppies this year and what a joy, so bright and cheerful.
