Last of The Sunflowers

I had taken out the fence and gate and suddenly, without support, the sunflowers where huge and everywhere. You can see them here stretching for the rising sun in the east. A rain in the afternoon pulled a few out by the roots and snapped one off. I dug out the garden for the move the next day, so the timing was alright.

Thanks. I'm glad I grew them. In my new garden, plenty of sun is rare, but I'm sure I can find them a spot. They offer too much from very little to let them lose their spot with me. :-)

And when they finish flowering, the birds love the seeds!!!

It is a great benefit, but here it will be frozen still with petals in about 4 weeks from this pic last year. And then a plunge. Not enough season to make much although I like a sunflower stalk walking stick, tough and strong but very light.

I don't think sunflowers are grown in a mix of vars like this very much, and it's a lovely effect....much better than all the same colour!

Thank you. I enjoyed them mixed up so much! Much more stimulating. I'll be repeating if I can come up with a spot in the new garden. Not a whole lot of good sun for something like this here.

Thank you. Thilak? :-) Good to hear from you! I hope I can find a spot to do these again this year. I found myself eyeing seeds just yesterday. I hope I remembered and spelled your name correctly...lol)

Thank you Marguerite. I do tell a story, I'm glad you like them. Trying to get a little more caught up but no motivation. Still snow today with more to come.....augh, its never ending this year!
