great to have the aerial view ~ best way to plan! that trellis looks good too

9 Mar, 2013

Yes...great for climbers as a backdrop...

9 Mar, 2013

Thanks, Sticki.
Took me 3 days...emphysema, frozen shoulder & arthritis aside.
I'm chuffed at the outcome.

9 Mar, 2013

Hi Paul.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Let's hope the climbers oblige, eh? Lol.

9 Mar, 2013

Yes, hope so! And ,when there's not a huge space on the ground, it's good to go upwards..... =more plants in small area!

9 Mar, 2013

you deserve those plants to do well after you worked so hard, should look fabulous!

you will get masses of climbers on there!

9 Mar, 2013

Yeah, Sticki, including squirrels living in trees the other side of those railings!

9 Mar, 2013

oh, i have plenty of those here too!!

i wonder if you will get lots of birds there once the climbers take hold ~ hope so!

9 Mar, 2013

Well, Sticki, we have flocks of seagulls, murders of crows, charms of finches, the occasional flights of swallows, the odd deceit of lapwings, a richnesr of martens and the list goes on.
In the last decade we've been beset.
Even had a parrot 2yrs ago, nesting in 3 trees in the back court, (before they got blown over last yr!), but it probably doesn't count, as it absconded from it's cage in a neighbour's flat!

9 Mar, 2013

an aviary!!! wow! you get lapwings? thats really amazing ~ one of those tried to dive bomb me last year!

9 Mar, 2013

The back court is quite open & large & we always chuck something out for the wildlife, so anything flying over has, as they say, a bird's eye view of all those tidbits.
We get the odd rare visitor.
I've even seen kites and kestrels, but usually hovering over bits of overgrown wasteland around blocks of flats, where, I suppose, they can take advantage of the thermals.

10 Mar, 2013

kites are amazing birds and i love the kestrels

12 Mar, 2013

We're agreed on that, Sticki, but farmers & pigeon racers beg to differ, eh? Lol.

13 Mar, 2013

as well as the small birds!!

13 Mar, 2013

Blimey, this is mental, Sticki!
I've been trying to clear my backlog, but each time I press 'add comment' I've been sent to the new registration page & trying to retreat to the previous page has evicted me from the site.
I live in interesting times.
Anyway, on 1 of my pages you guided me to Steve's photos of passiflora & I found the one that matches to the wee placard on mine.
Did you see it?
If not, it's Curaea, (probably spelt that wrong!), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Steve posted his photo on 5th Oct, 2010.

14 Mar, 2013

I had a lot of trouble recently with getting onto Goy from my phone, it says Goy made a mistake??
Stevie grows passionflowers in his polytunnel, mostly white but the link was for a purple one.
Hope they do well for you, they are stunning.

Looks nice I see you have lots of beautiful plants well done you, at least you can look down and see all at once in your garden.

26 Jan, 2014

It looked a lot better, during summer just gone, 3d
Behind the trellising to the right was once an eighty foot high building that bore the brunt of the weather, the wind in particular, which comes screaming into the backcourt from the north/northwest and west.
I lost, amongst others, my tallest sunflower to a westerly last year.
It's my 2nd year, next month, at gardening and I'm a wee bit wiser now, so know the Sandeville wouldn't survive, sadly.

26 Jan, 2014

That is a shame Mouldy have you enough room to grow tall thin trees for protection of your other plants, yes I see how you would nt stand a chance with the Sandevile, I might not either yet hehe as this will be its first winter in my garden. Sad you lost your tallest sunflower.

26 Jan, 2014

Not cost effective, 3d.
Anything affordable (yearlings) would take years or would suffer, as soon as a developer starting building on the wasteland behind.
I had seven, one each at the posts the trellising is fixed on, but the wind just ripped through the garden.
One minute calm and peaceful, the next, bedlam.
Still, it was a steep and rapid learning curve. Lol.

27 Jan, 2014

Thats a shame Mouldy I hope they build some thing that will protect you garden from the elements.

27 Jan, 2014

This is Glasgow city, 3d, so they'll probably build something that blocks out most of the light and I'll have to re-plan the entire three backcourts!

27 Jan, 2014

That would be a great shame if they did that, can't you look on the council town planning on the net to see what will be built there.

27 Jan, 2014

There's so many planning applications been put in, 3d, as there's more land and potential land to go with it, that we no longer bother checking them or getting incensed or excited.
Until something concrete, pardon the pun, is up for consideration we'll just hang fire.

27 Jan, 2014

So you like suprises then lol lets hope it wont be an eye sore.

27 Jan, 2014

Probably be a high rise car park. Lol.

28 Jan, 2014

Yes that would nt suprise me with authorities now a days, wonder will it have a race track with a ramp inside.. you then could get Jeremy Clarkson to test drive it haha

28 Jan, 2014

Actually, since Monday, scaffolders and builders have been faffing about, as my tenement has had structural problems, since the old building was torn down.
I've already read the riot act to a couple of scaffolders for treading on my plants!
I get the feeling they won't do that again. ;-)

29 Jan, 2014

Lol I bet they have now put detour signs around the scaffolding with arrows pointing up towards you beware of this man if you tread on his plants.

29 Jan, 2014

They were obviously not keen gardeners. Lol.

30 Jan, 2014

I ve yet to see a builder being careful with any ones gardens or plants so noooo they can't be keen

30 Jan, 2014

So, I don't count...as an ex-builder, then? Lol.

31 Jan, 2014

noooooooo whit a Load ay naf ye gab. ha ha he he

31 Jan, 2014

Actually, I didn't take up gardening 'til 4th March, last year, but I still never trampled on any clients' plants.
Just isn't done. is it? Lol.

1 Feb, 2014

No Mouldy shows you have respect for plants ;-)

2 Feb, 2014

Had to have another go at them, today. Lol.
They were pulling down some of the wall behind my trellising to make repairs to the gable end of my building.
In the process they loosened one of the posts holding my trellising up.
It's very windy today and the consequence is that ALL my trellising is starting to break from it's anchorage!
I brought half the commitee members into the back court to bear witness.
I suspect, when I get back from the library, the damage will be repaired. ;-)

3 Feb, 2014

Lets hope its all fixed then on your return.

4 Feb, 2014

It was.
Result! Lol.

4 Feb, 2014

:o))

4 Feb, 2014

Still, the next high wind should tell if the job was well done...or not.

4 Feb, 2014

It surely will, and if its not I can see a slap on the neck for some one lol.

4 Feb, 2014

More like a boot in the, er...anyway let's hope it doesn't fall over or a year's work and growth is kaput.

5 Feb, 2014

Lol , that would be sad :o(( if does fall all that work.

5 Feb, 2014

Had a look today, at the site-foreman's invitation.
They've done a good job.
Turns out some blabbermouth told them I was on the commitee.
Still, the trellising is now stabilised and my wee plants are safe. :-)

6 Feb, 2014

There is always one is nt there. Great its all fixed and your plants will be safe and secure.

6 Feb, 2014

Until someone starts building next door. ;-)

6 Feb, 2014

These might pass on the message to whom ever builds your not a happy chapy if you mess with your plants.

6 Feb, 2014

I posted a comment an hour or more ago, but it's vanished!

7 Feb, 2014

7 Feb, 2014

7 Feb, 2014

Nope lol that is not in the dictionary nor in history as like Abracadabra its a talismanic device.

10 Feb, 2014

10 Feb, 2014

That's showbusiness for you.

10 Feb, 2014

Even with out show business I don't like them.

10 Feb, 2014

Oh, you're hard as nails, you! Lol.

11 Feb, 2014
