i believe our resident muntjack deer, starved by last year's lack of apple windfalls and a long winter have debarked all 26 of my half century old apple trees. ideas? prospects of recovery? suggestions for replacement?

Oh no!!! That is such a shame. I have also problem with deers on Vancouver Island but so far no such as extensive damage as this :-( Sorry. I do not think that trees can live without a continuous bark. Might have to plant some young ones....for next generation
