It's quite arresting.
The more I study it the more I like it.
Are the blossoms scented, Andrew?

DD - mine was planted in autumn 2001, so it's come through several winters now. Mine is in a sheltered north-facing position. It dislikes cold, drying winds
Mouldy - it's not scented, but it's a shrub with presence. A good shape, evergreen, with red stems.. Even when not in flower, I get asked what it is when the garden is open

Definately stands out.

The wind is our biggest problem here, at the moment it is sheltered between two large shrubs, but looking at yours, it is not going to have enough room.....

I'm probably going to give it some judicious pruning this year to reduce the spread. The RHS book says it reaches twelve feet high and eight across, but I reckon its fairly slow-growing

I hope so.........otherwise I'm in trouble!!

Andrew, I can't recall if it was on one of your blogs, or photos, but you were discussing slug control & mentioned using copper (A band, maybe?) from which I assume you had some measure of success.
Can you give me any more info, please?

Bought this one earlier on this year, and very pleased with it, just how hardy is it Andrew?
