On this photo you can see old (silver) and new (green) sprigs on lavender. I cut lavender each february to the old wood (not much, but at the borderline with current and old branches). Thus it will sprout enormously, becomes thicker each year and will have a large amount of new flowers.

Thanks Katarina, what a healthy looking plant! You've certainly know how to prune them well to keep them bushy. Looks like you'll have loads of fragrant flowers this summer!
