Klahanie - I was confused as well when I bought it, but it is a variety of cornus kousa called Cherokee. It is listed at www.junker.co.uk

Thanks for your note Andrew. I had to go to that webpage just for an interest ...if they know something I do not know. I could not find a cornus kousa Cherokee. All the Cherokee they have are associated with cornus florida... same as here.
Can you send me a link to the specific page please? I am interested.
Is the one you have posted in your garden? Looks very healthy. I have 3 of them. Not so good looking as yours.

From the website:
"CORNUS kousa 'Cherokee'
The dense form and compact habit make this one of the smaller growing kousas. It is extremely floriferous with wide, rippled bracts. A great introduction."
Yes, it's in my garden, planted in 2008

Yes. I found it on other European sights. I agree that yours has wider bracts than the one I have.

Hi Andrew, I am not aware of Cornus Kousa Cherokee.
I think the Cherokee name is associated Cornus florida here in North America.
I know:
'Cherokee Chief'
'Cherokee Princess'
'Cherokee Sunset'
'Cherokee Daybreak'
I grow Cornus florida 'Cherokee Chief'..... it is a popular variety of dogwood here that features reddish pink flowers . Very showy.
The one in your picture is cornus kousa chinensis (I think)
Unless UK has different naming.
