A Few More Potatoes

A Few More Potatoes

They'll do for dinner this evening.I'm just rummaging around and picking a few off at a time, allowing the others to develop more.....Nothing better than the taste of new potatoes straight from the garden! Well, from bags in the garden to be more specific! I haven't grown any direct for two years due to blight infestation ! Leaving them out of the ground until at least next year. But, they are still fairly successful in bags!!

Not long 'til I harvest mine, now, Paul.
If they look half as good as your's I'll be happy!

Are yours main crop in the ground then Mouldy? These were earlies in bags. But they were later than usual this year! very good though!
I don't grow main crop anymore(no space) since I gave up my large plot at the back of one of my customers' garden!

They're Charlottes, planted late April, Paul, as were the rest of my veg.
Because I was late in planting, due to that late Spring, I had little hope of anything being produced.
Now it's all a bonus.

I always had great success with Sante(Spanish variety I believe) and red Desiree , both main crop!

I must get to B&Q to see what they have in the way of caulis, spring cabbage & leeks, rather than leave empty spaces in the border.

2 Sep, 2013

A bloke stopped me today and said Is there a B&Q in Corringham (where we live) I said "No, there's a C , 2 r's an O.............
A bit late, isn't it to be planting things like that now!!!!????

I don't know, Paul.
I'm new to this gardening malarkey, don't forget.
I know garlic is planted about now, so thought maybe spring cabbages were, too.
Isn't there a winter cauli?
Blimey, this gardening is complicated, innit?
I should have taken up maccrami instead! Lol.
That must be the same guy that asked me where the other side of the road was.
I pointed to the opposite pavement.
He swore loudly, then said "Some idiot just sent me over here!"

Spring cabbage ,yes....not sure about winter caulis.....Japanese onion sets go in in the next few weeks!

2 Sep, 2013

Well, a wee trek to Block & Quail should do the trick.
I'll bear the Nippon onions in mind, though.
Thanks mate!
