Only flower I can find on this new Philadelphus, which is very hidden amongst a geranium. Next year it should appear above the undergrowth!

As a boy, several decades ago, a neighbour grew the most tatty looking roses I've ever seen, but the scent was out of this world!

...and you've never forgotten them! I remember when I first smelled wild honeysuckle in a hedge on holiday, aged about 7!

I was seven, too.
The family moved from Glasgow to Gt. Yarmouth.
Couldnt get a job or flat, kinda hard for a small boy, so had to go with them.
Roses, hawthorn, apple blossom.
Made a change from unwashed masses, sewers, etc. Lol.
