thanks Moti, just been out surveying the damage done last evening by the rain and wind. It has done for my Sumac tree, split it down the centre of its main trunk, shall have to get out and chop chop chop this morning.

Wow! And I was shocked that a branch on one of my birches is down! It's heavy here, but not windy.

It is looking rotten in the centre so think that is what has happened the wind has blown and with it being top heavy it has split it down the centre. Still some growing so have left the healthy bits on and will see if it grows on ok.

When I told Scott, yhe said that had happened to ours in the old garden, but I don't remember it.

think it will come back, the bits that are left look healthy enough, had another look this morning and they seem to be ok. Tied one piece in with cable tie to a bit of the buddleia which is a little bit the same, again I chopped it down so hoping they both survive ok.
