Hazelnuts

Do you see any of these in your bowl, Lori? Mine are eaten way before we can get to them by squirrels and jays.

It's no different here, Klahanie! Sad to say. What is encouraging is that there are dozens more nuts than last year! I did some brush cutting and removed the many ash seedlings that were crowding the hazel or it might have more to do with the amount of rain we've had? I would love to have some for my "bowl"...still hopeful.

We should compare our "bowls" in a month or so :-).

I checked on the nuts yesterday, K. and they are getting larger, but I fancy they are fewer. seeing more squirrels now. There are the large owls in the bush and they have taken many of the squirrels that were around..but the population seems to be rebounding. just hope they don't find too many hazelnuts as they are very close to the squirrels favourite (the black walnut). Oddly, the BW doesn't seem to have as many nuts as last year. hmmmm?
