Hydrangea lacecaps.

Hydrangea lacecaps.

Lacecaps are identical to mopheads in every way except the shape of their blooms. The little buds in the center of the lacecap are the fertile flowers, and the large showy blossoms around the outer edge are the sterile flowers.

Thank you, Melchi. This time of the season they are usually much larger, but we have very dry and hot July. And although I irrigate the garden every second day, one cannot cheat the nature, they are just smaller then usual.

Watering is important, but as you say, we can't "cheat"! It doesn't have the same result as rainfall because the air is so dry.

Exactly.

Yesterday we had a huge rain storm after month of drought. It was like in Amazonia. The streams of water falling from the heaven were so dense, that it looked as if it was a curtain. Noris was fascinated and watched it through the window till 3 a.m. I was totally exhausted :-) Today everything was fresh and clear.

We've had rain - a few nights ago it came down in torrents. It felt wonderful the next morning, and we haven't had it anything like as hot as you have. It's great to have full water butts again.
