I like its umbrella-shaped crown and colour of leaves in the autumn.

It is Acer aconitifolium. One of very showy and fast growing acers.

But it is more spreading, then growing up. It has twice width compared to height.

Jane, majority of acers prefer slight shade. So it would be optimal. This one is also protected by old apple tree from east and south. Thank you Melchi, yes, they are.
