Very imposing tall flowers, but this plant needs space!

Having checked one or two other websites, this plant is loved by bees, but is invasive!

I agree with that, Andrew - it's fighting a battle with the Lysimachia on the bank. However, as it flowers later, that's fine. I knew it would be a thug - I was forewarned.

Interestingly, I have planted lysimachia punctata in solid clay in dry shade. It flowers quite happily, but has shown no signs of 'running' - yet!!

Hmmm...give it time....

How lucky you are being able to grow all these wondrous invasive type plants. Carol Klein was extolling the virtues of crocosmea on GW the other night and in a large garden they're superb. I've decided that, as my garden is so small, I'm getting rid of all this sort and concentrating on 'tried and true' though new varieties maybe. No more hunting for rare plants, just sticking to those which will give the best display for the longest time. I'm going to be ruthless, I don't even have room for daylilies, they're going too, well most of them, I'm clamping down on Welsh poppies, I will allow some though, my heleniums will go too I think, though they do flower for ages .... it's makeover time!:-))

Spritz - I saw this plant at Hidcote last week. A large clump, and it had spread under a path and was coming up on the other side.

I'm thinking of digging up my Japanese knotweed;-))

I'm not surprised, Andrew - mine has doubled in size in one year!!! I shall be keeping an eye on it.
Ba - would you like some Himalayan Balsam to replace it? LOL.

Just the thing for my tiny bog garden Barbara ...your generosity knows no bounds:-))

I spotted another one on the bank yesterday <sigh>. I expect I could dig it up for you...but it means donning my wellies and plodging up the stream, so maybe you could do without it? Please?

Ok then, I wouldn't want to put you out ...they are rather pretty .... sigh:-))

That's the trouble, Ba - people like the wretched things and leave them to seed themselves. Grrrrr.... I spotted yet another one yesterday - I'll need my wellies on to get it out. :-((

Barbara, have you ever stopped to think ... if you left them to their own devices, your garden would still look pretty and you wouldn't have to do any gardening:-))

What, with Bindweed and HBs? Eeeuuugghhhhh!!!!!

Just a suggestion:-))
