To my surprise, I have still had a large crop of autumnal raspberries.

I nibbled, too. With Noris, we both had really a brunch :-) What are Alpine strawberries?

They are very small strawberries. Some varieties have been cultivated to an extent, but they grow wild in parts of Europe. They are pretty plants and make good ground cover. I like the taste of them although they are not as sweet as ordinary strawberries and have a tang. They are very small though - you'd need an awful lot to have them as a dessert!

I see! OK, now I recognize what strawberries you are talking about. Yes, I think I have them also, they grow on some sunny places in my garden as weeds. But because they are too much on the ground, I do not pick them....

Mmm! I find the Alpine strawberries are still going strong, but I tend to have a nibble while I'm gardening and leave the rest for the birds.
