The prized spice was brought to America in the early 1700s by a German farmer who grew it on his land in Pennsylvania. Are you collecting the tiny orange-red stigmas Bathgate? I do not grow it (some GOYers do) but I use it in Paella. Do not ask me how much I am paying for it.

Hi Klahanie. Thank You. That's very interesting. I know that Saffron is one of most expensive spices in the world. It has many medicinal uses as well. I need to research the proper way to harvest and store Saffron...and a few good recipes would help too.
