An escape from the concrete canyons of New York City.
This is looking uptown from lower Broadway. The white neo-gothic building with the green copper roof (dead center) is the Woolworth Building. It was completed in 1913, and is one of the oldest skyscrapers in the United States.

This is where I work, I live outside the big city. I don't want to live here either. I need my little "oasis"

It looks rather claustrophobic to me in between all those buildings. I'm glad you have a nice place to go home to :o)

It's nice to live outside the city but the commuting can be a bit of struggle sometimes...

I certainly can see how you would feel that way. Thank you. My garden helps to balance things out a little.

I wasn't that lucky when I was working and living in cities at the same time. not always having a garden to chill out.

Thanks Gg, I love New York City. I find it exciting with many things to experience. I also enjoy my garden - it's my escape. Both kind of balance each other out. I agree with you about the commuting part - not my favorite thing.

Sometimes you took your life in your hands especially on the platform , as if a train was late or canceled the whole thing would fill up in minutes and you could hardly move I would always get my back against the wall , or drunks pickpockets , people begging for money I could go on ....
But the buzz at Christmas was exiting , amazingly in London my basement flat did have a huge Victorian garden, and was popular with my friends who would pop in just to sunbathe lol

You are not kidding about "taking your life in your hands" especially when people like to fly air planes into buildings or who knows what? That's why my garden is like an escape. This is my world.

mine the same it drives me crazy when I can hear sip snip from next door pruning my clematis honey suckle jasmin roses I could go on .....

That must be awful to hear your plants being chopped up. I just planted a really cool honeysuckle called "Major Wheeler." It grows bright red trumpets with bright yellow centers. I want it to completely cover the fence between my neighbors yard and mine. I don't ever want to hear "snip snip"

Unless you are the one 'snip snipping'Paul..that's quite a nice sound:o) ..I don't think I could lve in a big city again either..but youth was on my side then, and I didn't mind the 'buzz' of it..and I ws lucky enough to be able to walk to work..peace and quiet reigns now :o)

I actually live on Long Island, and commute to work via rail road. That's when I have my coffee and read the paper.

Ah,I see Paul..I don't know much about Long Island,so I googled it..and what a lovely place it is..away from the hustle and bustle of New Your city..no wonder you love it there...I didn't expect it to be like that..those beaches are wonderful, and some lovely properties too :o)

Yes, the beaches are really nice especially the Hamptons and Fire Island and there is really good fishing depending on season.

That was meant to say New York, not New Your city, but I gather you knew that Lol. ..lucky you, living there..:o)

That goes back to "tomato tomaato"

Or my lack of concentration is more likely,Paul :o) I do quite a bit of editing, but missed that one ! Lol.
