the foliage is just as important as the flowers too.

This one is up under the apple tree, and Pirhouette is in with the others in 'Hellebore Corner'.
Thanks, S' gran. It seems to drain well, which is just as well under the circumstances!

I hope something long term will be done for those affected. It is great how the rivers are now going to be dredged.

Oh yeah? Note that the PM said 'When the water has receded' - when will *that* be? It's still rising, and now the poor folk may never be able to return to their homes. There are fears of nasty diseases like typhoid and cholera from the sewage that's in the flood water. Yuk! (Very scary, too...)

It certainly is. I do not understand why accountants are listened to when decisions on money saving schemes are called for. We saw the result when the Forth Rail Bridge painters were removed. It was the worst cost cutting exercise ever. Millions were spent repairing the resulting neglect. The same is going to happen in this flooding fiasco. I felt heart sorry for one chap standing in the ruin of a house he had bought only seven weeks ago. The pumps supplied to clean up the first flood will need to be replaced to cope with the second deluge and as you say it has not stopped raining yet. The health risks are terrifying. I'm glad you are not affected this time.

We've been lucky. I don't fancy testing the new flood defences, but they're comforting to have.
We had to pass by the levels, high on the ridge yesterday. Al the roads leading down off the ridge are closed, and the sight of all that water was *very* scary! I suspect people will be evacuated very soon. HRH is visiting today - I wonder if he'll wear the royal wellies? I hope he does.

Just brown brogues so he did not intend to plow through the mess.

I saw him in wellies at cut-off Muchelney, talking to the poor flooded-out folk. They took him in the boat and were VERY careful to help him in and out. It would have been somewhat embarrassing if he'd fallen, wouldn't it! He actually went into one of the flooded homes. I don't know when he put his brogues on - but he had them on at the Village Hall later.

I noted he had shoes on when he arrived, in a later news bulletin he was wearing the wellies. Folks seemed to appreciate that he had taken the time to give them some publicity to help keep up the pressure to have more done.

Yes, they had smiles on their faces! :-)) It was good for morale.

I hope you are not threatened by the flooding we are seeing on our TV. Your garden has recovered beautifully. I know it has been a lot of extra work but it has been such a success.
