Sadly the flower was bitten off by slugs :o(

there are many more to open and I've put some eggshells down as a deterrent.

Maybe just Glasgow slugs, Seaburn, but I found eggshells to be about as much use as a chocolate teapot!
I placed half shells, quarter shells...all the way down to nearly powdered shells around my plants last year, as I wanted to find the most effective form.
None of them worked.
Andrew swears by copper bands and, trawling the net, I tend to agree with him, as they 'eloctrocute' the wee blighters, chemically.
