Ferocactus Townsendianus - Aleksej the Big

Ferocactus Townsendianus - Aleksej the Big (Ferocactus Townsendianus)

I've had this cactus for 13 years now (from seed), and it's pretty massive, weighing in at 23 kilos (50 lbs)!

You must be proud of this growing it from seed to this

Yes, it's a great satisfaction for me! This work needed a great patience and long time. The result is always uncertain.
The seeds sprout easily, but immediately after follows a very critical period which lasts about 2-3 years when they are very fragile, they grow slowly and need special care. After that they are already stronger and grow faster. A large part of my cacti are grown this way.
