Iris 'George' nearer the camera, iris reticulata 'J S Dijk' further away. Exactly the same colour, but 'George' has broader petals. Just to be really perverse, my iris reticulata (the ordinary species) is the same colour as well!

Have you still got these Andrew?

DD - 'George' is already in flower, but 'J S Dijk' is much later and only just coming through the ground. Both are growing in my raised bed.

So that is how you keep them coming back is it?

As far as I can make out, the two essentials for getting reticulata irises to reappear are good drainage and deep planting. They get both in my raised bed. 'George' was one of the four varieties I planted in October 2013, so this year is his fourth appearance.
