This is the well-known Autumn Cherry it blooms from October-November until February-March with small, pink, white or pink-white flowers. The blooms are not abundant however it is very conspicuous in winter. In autumn the leaves turn beautiful red and bronze. .
They are wrong, because this tree is covered in blooms.

Glad you found the name. I really ought to have recognised it, but it really is covered with blossom isn't it! Mine has never been that full on. I hope my new one here will be in flower soon, it has some nice buds on it. :)

Thanks Karen, hope yours will do the same eventually. I try to take a picture of all the plant labels for that reason...glad I did, as I have so many different kinds of cherry trees.

Lucky you! I love flowering cherries...they are the epitome of spring aren't they. I decided to go for Crab Apples though, so I could enjoy watching the blackbirds eat the fruit in winter. Mind you, there's room yet for a cherry or two more if I want them!

I bought two crab apples last year, love them too, I am hoping to buy more this year.
