I have noticed white violets growing beside those typical blue ones. I do not know, how this could happen....

Hi, Derek, thank you for the opinion. I didn t plant violets in my garden, they grow naturally there. I was thinking if its colour doesn t depend on the composition of soil. My garden is large and there are definitely parts with clayey soil and some parts with very fertile leaf soil. What do you think, is a white viola natural?

Hi Katarina, yes the species ones come true from seed, so it must be 1 of those that has different colours, that has self seeded, Derek.

Hi Katarina, there are about 500 species of Viola, {violets}, a few of them produce flowers of varying colours from the same species, white is 1 of the colours, so it depends which species you have, if you got 2 plants the same, 1 could be blue, the other white, Derek.
