Datura - Angel's Trumpet

In northern climates this attractive plant is often grown indoors because people assume its common name refers to the look of the flowers rather than the indication that this is the sound to be heard after ingestion of a fatal amount.

You were spot on Sandra. I looked up what you said and it's called a Datura-Angel's Trumpet. Seems fitting. Thanks for your help - again! :)

It did strike a chord Paul,only because a friend had one in a pot a few years ago,but only for summer in our Northern climate..I don't know if it survived,but it's lovely,and now you mentioned Angel's trumpet,that is what I remember too..Tonight we are expecting temps of minus 2 !

Oh no! surely not more snow? I think you have had more than your fair share this winter Paul..I have put some upturned plant pots with a stone on top,over my emerging Delphiniums..just in case..Our local Radio Gardener warned about the keen frost this morning..so I always take heed of what he forecasts..he is almost always right..one of the old school of Gardeners....

You're lucky you have a reliable source. Ours is more like a "crap shoot!" We never know what's coming at us! Even when they predict a storm, we never know what's going to happen until it gets here...or IF it gets here at all.

Lol,Paul,love your description ! :o) We got our keen frost,as predicted,but the sun is lovely this morning,and it's now almost disappeared,except for the front lawn,which won't get sun till after lunch...Hope the aim is off target for you ! :o)

Klahanie,I checked on Brugmansia,and you are right,but apparently it is also called Datura as well..Isn't that confusing? One name,one plant should be the norm,I think..

Not sure,Paul,could it be a Datura? I'm going by the ones hanging down..but I don't really know much about tropical plants..some one will know..It's a lovely one,whatever it is..:o)
