Now, that is interesting. Do they eat the flowers? Are you pollinating by yourself Kat ?

Last yr was the 1st yr buds had formed and you could see the apple start to from from behind then the birds made shot of them it never even got a chance to come into blossom .
So this is just a test.

Sometimes when I do not see bees around I go with little brush and pollinate some by hand :-) which is really useless on big trees but I do it anyways. Our friend is pollinating all his tomatoes in glass house that way.
Good luck with your little tree. What kind of apple?

Maybe move the bird feeder to another part of the garden and then they might leave it alone for a while you could always hope they were short sighted birds. lol. Hope you are successful Kath, it is such a shame when we work so hard and the wild life just helps itself. lol.

Just moved it and it's funnÅ· watching the birds looking for the feeder.

I move my feeders around quite a lot here and I know exactly what you mean watching the little birds looking puzzled is quite amusing. Cruel woman that I am. lol. It keeps them fit Kath. lol. thats my excuse nothing to do with the weeds growing underneath the feeders. lol. :O)

It's the feeding station that got moved .

And the seed is ment to be no mess but I am pulling out grasses that have grown from spent seeds from the birds.

thats the seed I use too but the niger seed is a pain, it throws up shoots everywhere. I try not to put that feeder near the borders - it is down in the hedgrow area.
