Begonia sutherlandii - 2014

New to the garden this year (so untested for hardiness), although I have seen it growing in the wild in mountainous areas in South Africa. It needs shade, and moisture in the soil but not excessively set (the "moist but well-drained" perfect growing medium), and dies down to a tuber in winter. About six inches tall, but a foot and a half across at maturity. It is easily propagated from small bulbils that form in the leaf axils.
