Napaea dioica

Napaea dioica (Napaea dioica)

A couple of months ago, I wrote a blog about a trip to the opening of a new nursery, Evolution Plants, near Bradford-on-Avon. This plant was a purchase I made there. It is an endangered perennial, native to North America, growing anything between four and six feet tall, in moist soil in part shade. I'm not sure whether slugs will graze it, but it came with a couple of small holes in the leaves so i took no chances. Although it is in the mallow family, the flowers look more like those of a Jacob's ladder.
