A Natchez Crape Myrtle also gives you the unusual bark coloring of cinnamon on the trunk and stems, along with its smooth, sleek distinctive texture. This coloring gives you great winter interest with a brightness not found in most other trees during the cold season.

After its leaves are gone the bark would look lovely in a winters landscape such beauty, i never knew of this tree thank you for sharing :-) i love the bark colouration of the
eucalyptus tree and also the water colour effects of the trunks of the young plane trees you can see lining the avenues in london and now i have this new tree to add to my list of loves.
Thank you for sharing bathgate great photo.

OH you are welcome. I'm glad you like. They come in so many colors. They are much more common in the more tempered climates.

You are welcome Sandra. Isn't it amazing - the difference between the old and the new - I wish I could do that. :)

Lol,Paul..The 'weathered' look isn't good on people,as I can well agree..and they don't need sun block,or anti aging cream..neither works in my opinion :o)

This looks fascinating Paul. One of my hobbies is woodturning, (although not very experienced). I shall take a look on the internet as this probably has an interesting grain.

I"m sure you can do something with this. The new wood is a very rich cinnamon color and would look outstanding with a couple coats of shellac or varnish. The texture is so smooth, you won't need to do much sanding.
