South African bulb for well-drained soil in full sun. The bulb hates sitting in wet conditions in the winter, so ensure really sharp drainage under it. The largest of the family, it can get up to six feet tall in the wild; this is its first year in my garden, and it's around two and half feet in height. May be listed as a subspecies of E. pallidiflora.

Love this one ... do you think it will grow much taller in your garden Andrew?

I honestly don't know Shirley. I suspect the bulb will have to build up a lot of energy to grow to six feet, so it would take several years.

My other half grows this and it took a couple of years to bloom. However, once it bloomed it hit 1.5 metres easily and reliably every year since.
