Bunting making

Bunting making

I hate sewing and I was tasked at making 10 metres of bunting with characters from Winnie the Pooh, all done now just thought I would show you what it is like, not exactly as this picture, went for alternating characters and spots and checks. I must say it does look good now it is finished. Just needs hanging in Baby Pinks nursery.

I am not good Dd. but the request/challenge was to make the bunting so...... lol :O) Think though they all know me and knew I would not be able to resist and have a go. It did turn out really well and surprisingly it is very easy to make up. The drawing of the triangle was the most challenging problem, my maths is not good. lol. and another problem I have when using material is I HATE and I mean hate cutting into fabric, it always gives me the creeps for some reason. Think it is because it looks so pretty and crisp then you cut into it and spoil the look. lol.

Well done! You had to overcome some challenges...and you did it! :))

I have never enjoyed sewing Karen, but the worst part is the cutting of the fabric, I hate that first cut, eventually it becomes easier as I go along but have no idea why I do not like cutting into fabric. Really strange. I suppose it has something to do with once it is cut there is no going back. lol :O) with knitting you can pull it down and start again. lol :O)

I just hate sewing full stop. I don't mind cutting the fabric (as long as scissors are good). Rachel likes to sew, but it seems to make her very stressed. I try to help her, but I'm not really Much use. I detest sewing machines. Do you remember...you probably won't as I think I'd left home...but I made a pale blue ball gown completely by hand once! Wore it too!

lol :O) I bought an electric machine when the old hand turn one broke down, it has taken me ages to get used to it but then I do not use it all that often, but I did get to grips with it when making this bunting. I find it strange using a pedal when all those years i used a handle - still find myself going for the handle really funny as I have never really done a lot of sewing but I suppose it is just like everything else we learn, muscle memory is a strange thing automatic pilot kicks in. I get stressed when I am sewing, find knitting much more relaxing, but I can knit and watch tv at the same time which is impossible with sewing.

I cannot remember the ball gown but that must have taken some sewing skill.

Our eldest daughter was good with the old sewing machine, would run up something to wear that evening, certainly did not take after me, but her great grandfather and Uncle were tailors on my side and OHs uncle was also a tailor, so the genes are there.....

Very true Angela. I am fascinated by the way jobs run down the generations....you see it on Who Do You Think You Are? all the time.
